TARSOGNO GENERAL INFORMATION
|
Introduction to TARSOGNO The village of TARSOGNO is situated high in the Appenine mountains 80 kilometres South West of Parma at a height of 850 metres . It has a small winter population of roughly 750 which during the summer months grows to several thousands. How to get there. Nearest Railway Station is BORGOTARO 18 Km down in the Val Taro valley which is a 20 minute drive away Nearest Airport is Parma which has daily direct flights to London Stanstead . Private Aircraft are advised to phone air traffic 24 hours before arrival for parking and fuel as they can be a bit bureaucratic !! There seems to be a policy tby the Parma Authorities to keep Private Aircraft away from Visiting Parma or staying longer than 2 hours !!! Beware Fuel is not available from the Airport (LIMP) but from a private company based on the field snd is VERY Expensive Cremona which is only a short flight away is cheaper and very friendly to General Aviation Aircraft and has a great resturant on the field Parma Aero Club is available for Private Aircraft Hire and flying lessons but only to club members . Major Airports close to TARSOGNO are Parma Airport 1 hour drive ( has direct used to have daily flights by Ryan Air from Stanstead ) Milano Linate 2 hour drive Bologna 1.30 hour drive Pisa 1.45 hour drive Genova 1.30 hour drive From Parma in car car you can reach TARSOGNO by taking the A15 motorway from the A1 motorway near Parma which connects Parma with La Spezia and take the Exit sign posted Borgotaro and follow the signs towards Passo Cento Croce and Sestri Levante .Tarsogno is about 35km from the Motorway exit and 18 km from Borgotaro. I went there with a friend an his family in december 07 for Lunch and had a great meal, Starters and antipasto , followed by a home made pasta with a very light sauce with white veal , followed by a wonderful veal roast and roasted potatoes , all three courses were served on a large dish for us to help ourselves , and we could not finish all the food that was offered , This was all followed by a large home made apple cake , liquores ,Grapa Coffee, We drank two bottles of the Local GUTTURNIO red wine Tow bottle of Mieral water and 3 cokes for the children total price for the five of us 115 Euros . So we went back for NEW YEARS eve and got even better value and even more food. LA NAVE a TARSOGNO ODYSSEY
|
LA NAVE or in English The SHIP
Built in the mid 1950s this is the famous Foley of the Region , it is situated on far side of the valley facing the village of Tarsogno . It was originally built as a bar with Disco , it had living accomodation on the upper deck .It its hay day it was very popular and attracted people from far and wide. In the mid 1970 the it was sold to a new owner who transformed it inro a restaurant and bed and breakfast ,it carried on slowly "sinking" into the state it is now. IA few years ago a new owner bought it and the surrounding land and started to restore it ,with the intention of either turning it into a house "with Charater" or a restaurant but he ran out of money . It is now in the hands of the bank and is up for sale , the asking price is i think in the region of Euros 12,000- to 20,000 Euros. yes its a bit of a bargin but as can be seen it need a fair bit of work done to it . In May 2007 it was sold at auction for in the region of 50,000 Euros to it is belived a man from Milano
The village now awaits developments and we will see what he turns into We will keep you posted .Betting in the village is 50- 50 between house or restaurant
